Small service vs. big service: what does each include?
Small service vs. big service: what does each include? Car services are typically performed every 10,000km or 15,000km, especially if your vehicle is “new” and still within your service and maintenance schedule. You will find that only all "other" services are main services and those in between are known as ancillary services.
If you have your vehicle serviced regularly, you will likely see many benefits including better fuel efficiency, better handling, better braking and smoother engine operation. The number one reason for having your vehicle serviced is to maintain its market value.
CMH Mazda Hatfield has compared what is included in a minor and major service:
What is in a minor service is included?
The smaller services usually include:
- Oil change
- Oil filter change
.
- Chassis lubrication ( if not factory sealed)
- Inspect all fluids, filters, belts, hoses, brakes and emissions.
- Tire changes (some manufacturers recommend as part of a small service), although this is the exception rather than the rule. However, most dealers will check tire pressure.

- Check coolant level
- Check brake fluid level + color

If you have had any problems since your car was last serviced, we recommend that your mechanic perform an inspection of the problem areas. Explain to them the problem you are having and they will let you know if any additional work needs to be done before your next maintenance is due.
